Fall Favorites: Lipsticks!

Fall is without a doubt my favorite season to play around with lipstick. I get swept away into a land of plums, berries, and reds. I thought I wound kick start my "Fall Favorites" series of posts with my most loved fall lipsticks this season. I narrowed it down to my top 6 lip products, and have included 3 drugstore options and 3 higher end options, so there's a nice mix! I included lip swatches with every lipstick, but I will forewarn you, I was in a bit of rush so they are not all applied perfectly. BUT, you still get a good idea of what they look like on the lips!

1. Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum

As anyone who has been reading my blog would know, I LOVE the Revlon Lip Butters. They are some of my all time favorite lip products. This shade "Sugar Plum" is definitely my favorite for Fall. It's a perfect wearable, everyday plum. I love that it doesn't have shimmer. It's also super glossy and so easy to wear. This goes with ANY eye look!

2. Rimmel Show Off in Solstice (201)

Another super wearable fall-appropriate lip color! These Rimmel Show Offs have the most amazing formula. They are essentially liquid lipsticks and I'm in love! This is a really gorgeous plum-berry shade that's more on the more neutral side. This is another very versatile color that could be worn along with just about any eye makeup!

3. Rimmel Show Off in Comet (201)

I'm loving these Rimmel Show Offs so much, that I just had to include another gorgeous shade in my Top 6 Lipsticks for Fall. This one is a little bit bolder. It's a deep mauvey-plum and I love pairing it with super simple neutral eyes for a quick fall look! My next post will be a full review on these products so I will go into a tad more detail there.

4. Urban Decay Revolution Rush Lipstick in Rush

It's official! I have found THE perfect "my lips but better" lipstick! My lips are naturally on the darker side and this color was made for them! This is a perfect nude/neutral lipstick for fall. These Urban Decay lipsticks were recently launched, and the formula is impeccable. They are so smooth and creamy, plus they are super pigmented. The color range is also amazing and I can't want to pick up some more! Also, I have to give it up for some gorgeous packaging. Love the gunmetal tube!

5. Mac RIRI Woo

Disregard the horrible application and dryness of my lips, but this is one of the most gorgeous reds! I love pulling out an amazing red lipstick in the fall time, especially into the holiday season. This RIRI Woo is a retro-matte finish, and I will warn you, it is VERY matte. I would not wear this when my lips were dry. BUT when you're lips are moisturized and plump, it is one of the most gorgeous lipsticks. It makes your lips look like red velvet! It is also a very cool or blue toned red, so it makes your teeth look whiter. And oh my gracious, the packaging on this is pretty much to die for! It is limited edition, so snatch it up while you can.

6. Mac Rebel

I had to finish this post with my NUMBER 1 FAVORITE lipstick for fall. This is the perfect bold lip for this time of year and it seriously looks amazing on so many skin tones. It is a satin finish but it is super smooth and non-drying on the lips. Again, my lips are quite chapped in this photo. If you want to see this lipstick in action and in better detail, then you can check out my last post, which was a Fall-Inspired Face of the Day (click here). But seriously, the perfect plummy berry that's bold and glorious. I am loving!

Thanks so much for reading up on my Favorite Fall lipsticks! If you purchase or have any of these shades, let me know what you think! I will be putting together a few more "Fall Favorites" posts in the next couple weeks, so follow my blog if you want to see those. I hope you have an amazing day!

Fall-Inspired: Get Ready With Me//FOTD

The leaves are changing, the weather is cooling, the sweaters are coming out, and the autumn makeup is finally here! Fall is my favorite season for many reasons, including the fabulous makeup. I love the dark lips, smokey rich eyeshadows, and the dark nail polishes. Today I thought I'd let you take a peek into me getting ready with a very fall-inspired makeup look. I kept the eyes super simple and played up my lips with a gorgeous deep, deep berry. This is one of my go-to looks this fall!

Step 1: Foundation + Concealer

I first primed my skin with the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer (which is my all time fave, read more about it here). Next, I combined two foundations: Laura Mercier Silk creme (medium ivory) + Revlon Nearly Naked (120 Vanilla). I obsessed with the combo right now. The Nearly Naked sheers out the thick Laura Mercier foundation for an everyday medium-coverage foundation that has the most gorgeous natural, slightly luminous finish!

Step 2: Concealer + Brows

Next, I covered up any dark spots and breakouts with this Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Spot Eraser which is in the shade fair/light. I followed that up with my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in the color Chantilly for my undereyes, and I'm loving this concealer at the moment.

I filled in my brows with the Anatasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil in Soft Brown. I just picked this product up the other day and I am already in love with it. It gives the most natural looking brows!

Hellllo crazy eyes, not the cutest photo of my life but you can see the finish and coverage of the foundation.

Step 3: Set Foundation and Concealer

To set my foundation I used the Urban Decay All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray, which keeps my foundation looking freshly applied all day. I rarely set with powder since I do have dry skin and powders tend to cake-up on me. I always set my concealer though with this Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder (huge favorite, and you can learn more about it here).

Step 4: Eyeshadow

For the eyes, I started by priming them with the Urban Decay Primer Potion. Priming prevents creasing and helps the shadow apply more richly and evenly. For my shadows, I used the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette and Mac Soft Brown. I labeled the picture so you can see where I placed everything! Mac Soft Brown also went along my lower lash line.

Step 5: Liners + Mascara

On my upper lash line, I created a winged liner look with my Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Liner in blackest black. This is my holy grail gel liner; it applies super smooth, it's nicely pigmented, and it doesn't dry out super quick! Then, I ran the Rimmel Scandaleyes eyeliner in Nude on my waterline, which really opens up the eye and makes you look more awake! Finally, I curled my lashes and added a coat of the YSL Babydoll mascara on my top and bottom lashes.

Step 6: LIPS!

Now for the fun part! I applied Mac rebel ever so carefully to my lips. This is by far my favorite lipstick for the fall! It looks super purple in the tube, but it applies much more berry. This is a satin finish, but the formula is not drying. It wears so nicely too and I never have had problems with it fading or wearing off funny. It stains your lips and is very long lasting.

All done and ready for fall! I hope you enjoyed this Fall-Inspired Get Ready With Me! If you have any questions, feel free to comment. I hope you have an amazing day!

Drugstore Haul + Swatches

As a self-proclaimed make up addict, I can definitely attest to how amazing drugstore makeup is. There are so many lovely products and they are easy on the wallet. I am quite the frequent guest to the drugstore and every time I pop in, I can't help but pick up a few new makeup items. I'll go there for a toothbrush and come out with a handful of new products (whooopsie). I have collected a little stash of things over the past couple of weeks and thought I'd share and give some swatches. I'll be reviewing most of the products in the coming weeks, so follow my blog if you want to see those!

1. COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation (810- Classic Ivory)

So excited to play around with this. It's medium to full coverage and I love that it has SPF. I've tried this out once and wanted to give you a little forewarning in case you want to purchase... I recommend going a shade down because it does oxidize a little as it sets!

2. Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation (120- Vanilla)

I mentioned in my September Favorites that I was addicted to buying foundations, and you can clearly see that now *facepalm*. Nonetheless, I am super excited to give this one a go. It's supposed to be light coverage, and I prefer that one a day to day basis for going to class and such!

3. Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso

I have heard SO MUCH about these Milani baked blushes and how gorgeous they are. I am kind of in love with this peachy shade with gold shimmer. This is a blush that can pretty much go with any look. Obsessed!

4. L'Oreal infallible eyeshadow in Amber Rush

HOW AMAZING IS THIS COLOR? It's like a super-pigmented and smooth rose gold. These shadows are fantastic quality and I must get some more shades. This color is gorgeous for the Fall.
Holy amazing swatch. I definitely recommend applying this with your finger for the best color payoff.

5. Almay Liquid Lip Balm

These are relatively new products at the drugstore and the idea of a liquid baln intrigued me. I will definitely put a review up soon! The coral shade is "apricot" and the pink is "blooming".

6. Revlon Lip Butter in Lollipop

By now, we are all very aware of my complete adoration of these Revlon Lip Butters. I just had to pick up another (sorry, not sorry).

7. Milani Lipstick in Nude Creme (#26)

I love nude lipsticks and I love these Milani gold tube lipsticks, so naturally I gravitated towards this. These lip products smell so good too, kind of like watermelon candy. Yum!

8. Rimmel Show-offs

I have been wanting forever to get my hands on these. There are called "Apocalips" in the UK, which HELLO, is a WAY awesomer name (yes i know awesomer is not actually a word). These liquid lipsticks have been raved about and I finally found them at my drugstore! So far, I am loving them. The pigmentation is amazing. The names (from top to bottom) are Comet, Solstice, and Luna.

9. Essie Nail Polish
As far as color selection, I think essie may win the title for the best at the drugstore. I picked these two gorgeous shades from the Fall 2013 Collection. The greenish blue-y gray is "vested interest'. The other is "for the twill of it" and it may be one of the prettiest polishes I own. It's a gunmetal/black shade with purple and green reflex in it. Amazing on the nails!

Drugstore makeup, I love you. I am super pleased with everything I picked up and will have reviews up shortly. Until then, I hope you have an amazing day!

September Favorites: Beauty + Random

HOW IS IT ALREADY OCTOBER? I feel like it was just the like... February. However, it is officially Fall and I couldn't be happier. Fall is the most perfect season in my opinion. I love the weather, the leaves, the pumpkin spice lattes, the football, and of course the makeup! Last month, I didn't post a favorites so this month I have lots of exciting products to share with you and also some fun little random things. Shall we begin...

I am addicted to buying foundations. I am a little obsessed with find the best ones that are out there. This may be one of the best that I have ever tried. I have normal to dry skin and this suits my skin so well. Lots of full-coverage foundations look cakey on me and I have yet to find a single one that I even like, let alone love, but this one I LOVE. The finish is gorgeous, slightly luminous and dewy but not overly dewy. I've seen reviews from all sorts of people with different skin types and it seems to work well for many skin types. The color is chose was "medium ivory", in case you were interested.

2. NARS Blush in Sin

This has been my stable blush so far this fall season. This picture doesn't show the color exactly right (darn you camera!) but it's a very nice plumberry shade with gold shimmer. And lord, it is gorgeous on the cheeks! I'm fairly pale, but I do believe this would look AMAZING on darker skin tones. I love this shade with all my fall makeup looks and it looks so good with a deep berry lip.

3. Lancome Hynose Doll Lashes, Lancome Cils Booster XL, Maybelline The Falsies Black Drama

This has been my favorite mascara combination for the past couple months. I first apply the Lancome Cils Booster XL which is a white coat that adds little fibers on your lashes and lengthens them, and then the Maybelline The Falsies since it's waterproof which means it will hold the curl, and finally the Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes which adds lots of volume and some more length. This seriously makes my lashes look like false lashes.

4. Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder

I have done a full review of this on my blog, which you can read here, so I won't say too much about this. This is the best powder I have ever tried to set under eye concealer. It brightens the whole under eye up, makes you look super awake, and helps with dark circles.

5. Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum

If you've been reading my blog for a little while, you''ll know that I am obsessed with Revlon Lip Butters. I love this Sugar Pulm shade for the Fall season! It's a super wearable plum for everyday and the formula is so smooth and hydrating. I've been wearing this all month!

6. Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo and Conditioner

This shampoo and conditioner is amazing for oily hair! It really helps reduce the oiliness of hair, and at the same time it makes my hair soft, super clean, and shiny. This may be my perfect shampoo and conditioner. It also smells like pure bliss. Rosemary and Mint make a gorgeous couple. When I use this, it makes my whole bathroom smell like a ritzy spa.

Random

1. Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks

No explanation needed. They are pure deliciousness.

2. Amber + Pumpkin Candle
I picked this up from Target this month and HOLY MOLY this is Fall in candle form. It's warm and pumpkin-y, but not too sweet. The fragrance notes are maple, pumpkin spice, clove, and amber. One of the best candles I've ever smelt!

3. Music
  • Artist: Drake / Song: Wu Tang Forever // Obsessed with the whole album!
  • Artise: Lorde/ Song: Team // One of my favorite artists of the moment. So talented.
  • Artist: The Civil Wars / Song: The One That Got Away // so addicting.
So with the end of this post I say farewell to September, and HELLO October. Thanks so much for reading and I hope you have an amazing month!
