NYX Butter Lipsticks: Review + Lip Swatches!

When NYX announced the launch of their butter lipsticks a few months ago, I couldn't wait to get my hands on them! I love the NYX Butter Lip Glosses so I had high hopes for these super adorable lipsticks. I have been playing around with these lipsticks for well over a month now and I have really gotten to put these to the test! I hope you enjoy this review and if you have tried these out, let me know what you think about them in the comments :)

Product Rundown

Price: $5.99 USD

These lipsticks come in 22 different shades and they are formulated to be moisturizing and lightweight. They claim to have full coverage and a satiny finish.

My Thoughts

Overall, I do like these lip products and I think they are an amazing value. I think the packaging is super cute and I really like that you can see the actual lipstick shade through that clear opening in the center. I love the way these feel on the lips... they are moisturizing, smooth, and very lightweight. If you are familiar with the Revlon Lip Butters, these are somewhat similar to those, but they aren't as heavy or thick on the lips as those Revlon ones can be. I think these are kind of hit and miss in terms of color payoff and I will chat about that as I run through the colors I have....

1. Cotton Candy (BLS18)

This is the one out of all of them that I really dislike. It is an extremely pale pink shade, and unless are very, very fair skinned, I do not think you would like this color. Also, it seems to set into lines on my lips, which isn't a very cute look. If you want to try these out, I would say skip over this color!

2. Lollies (BLS04)

I do like this shade better. It doesn't seem to settle in lip lines like the one above. If you are more fair skinned, and I am at the moment, then this isn't too pale and unflattering. I can definitely pull it off. Both these lighter shades aren't very pigmented, which is a bit of a bummer. But I do like this color and I really like mixing it with other brighter shades for a new fun color combination.

3. Razzle Fiesta (BLS01)

I am totally obsessed with this color! It is stunning! I love how lightweight it feels, but it has some serious color payoff. I highly recommend this shade. It is super pretty for Spring and Summer!

4. Little Susie (BLS12)

I also love, love, love this color! It is a super flattering red-coral. Again, the color payoff is really good for this shade. It seems like the brighter and darker shades from this line have better pigmentation. But yes, love this shade and definitely recommend it!

In conclusion, I do love these lip products, especially the brighter shades. If you wanted to try these out, then I would definitely recommend the brighter shades over the lighter ones. I really want to pick up some more shades of these very soon! I would say they have more of a glossy finish, compared to the satin finish that the NYX website describes them having. They aren't super long lasting, and I didn't really expect them to be. They will wear off when eating or drinking, so you do have to touch up. They apply super smoothly and they are extremely comfortable on the lips!

I hope this review was helpful and I hope you have an amazing day!!

xoxo,
Paige
